Spark gap assembly for voltage arrester - includes partitions separating discharge chamber from arc extinguishing regions

The spark gap, for a voltage arrester, has two discharge electrodes in a magnetic field. Arc partitions (38, 40) separate the arc extinguishing regions (34, 36) from the discharge chamber (16). Arc guide pieces guide the base of the arc into the extinguishing regions with the aid of the magnetic field such that ionised gas cannot pass from the extinguishing regions into the discharge region between the electrodes.
