PURPOSE:To prepare hypotensive substances sanitanin A-D, by culturing mycelia of Themella fuciformis Berk or Volvariella volvacea (Fr.) Sing in a liquid medium, extracting the product, and separating and purifying the extract. CONSTITUTION:Fruit bodies obtained by treating mycelia of Themella fuciformis Berk (FERM-P No.4450) or Volvariella volvacea (Fr.) Sing (FERM-P No.4393) are cultured in a liquid medium, and the mycelia are separated from the medium, extracted with water or dilute alkali solution, and separated into a high-molecular weight fraction and a low-molecular weight fraction by ultrafiltration. The high- molecular weight fraction is subjected to the fractional precipitation to obtain sanitain A. Sanitanin B is obtained from the low-molecular weight fraction by the similar process. After separating sanitaning C by the fractional precipitation of the cultured liquid, sanitanin D is obtained by the ion exchange resin treatment of the liquid. USE:Sanitanins have carcinostatic activity as well as hypotensive activity. |
