PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a coating agent best suited for high picture quality printing such as full color printing by adding a cationic acrylic resin, an acrylic resin with coating film forming properties, a plasticizer and an aqueous solvent. SOLUTION: An anionic colorant and a cationic acrylic resin undergo a chemical reaction almost instantaneously upon both coming into contact with each other, so that the colorant is retained in an ink receiving layer almost simultaneously with printing. Consequently, the colorant contained in an ink is prevented from spreading around dots, so that the lowering of the optical density of dots and the blurring of their surroundings do not occur and the colorants of different colors of the adjacent dots are not mixed. For these reasons, a clear and high quality image can be printed. Further, since the coating agent contains a plasticizer, the ink receiving layer formed of this coating agent is not rigid but is pliable and the adhesive strength of the layer to various bases such as a synthetic resin film is enhanced. |
