PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for an air electrode having a thermal expansion coefficient close to a solid electrolyte and higher electronic conductivity, in order to improve reliability and efficiency at the time of operation of a fuel cell. SOLUTION: A Nickel-iron perovskite-type material composed of LnNi1-x Fex O3 or YNi1-x Fex O3 has been tested as a material for an air electrode 1 and the material has been found to have a property desirable as the air pole 1 with (x) ranging from 0.3 to 0.6 preferably from 0.4 to 0.55 in the compositional formula. In the material expressed by the compositional formula having (x) falling within this range, its thermal expansion coefficient is close to a solid electrolyte 2 and electronic conductivity is higher than existing La0.8 Sr0.2 MnO3 , and a fuel cell equipped with an air electrode 1 made of this material has higher reliability and higher power generating efficiency. |
