PURPOSE:To meet requirements of users who require editing functions and users who do not require them, by discriminating the classification of an erase means in accordance with the electric signal outputted from the erase means and controlling the erase means in accordance with the discrimination result. CONSTITUTION:One of plural kinds of eraser can be set to a copying machine body, and each eraser is provided with a terminal which outputs an electric signal indicating the classification, and the copying machine body detects the electric signal from the eraser to discriminate the classification and controls erasing in accordance with the discrimination result. If the first eraser having a simple structure for users who do not require the editing functions and the second eraser having a complicated structure for users who require the editing functions are prepared as erasers, one copying machine can cope with the pres ence and the absence of the editing functions by replacing only the eraser. When the user who selects the first eraser wants to add the editing functions, he buys only the second eraser, and it is unnecessary that he buys another copying machine. |
