PURPOSE:To prepare a color-forming composition which has excellent shelf stability and good color stability and provides excellent coloration, by combining a color-forming dye with a color developer comprising a ketal or acetal of L-ascorbic or D-erysorbic acid. CONSTITUTION:The title composition is prepared by combining a color-forming dye with a color developer comprising L-ascorbic acid 5,6-O-ketal or 5,6-O-acetal, or D-erysorbic acid 5,6-O-ketal or 5,6-O-acetal. An example of the color-forming dye is a dye generally called leuco dye. This color-forming composition can be used for a thermal recording medium such as heat-sensitive paper, or for a pressure-sensitive recording medium such as pressure-sensitive copying paper. |
