PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital receiver which enhances its resistance against fault that allows the receiver to continue normal operation without the function of a defected IC card by disconnecting the defective IC card from the system. SOLUTION: When a synchronizing signal detection circuit 101 does not detect a synchronizing signal or a video audio decode circuit 104 detects a decode error, a control circuit 1017 sequentially controls switches 1008-1012 to integrate IC cards 1002, 1003 one by one to the system, and the synchronizing signal detection circuit 101 and the video audio decode circuit 1014 makes diagnosis of the IC cards. Then a faulty IC card is disconnected from the main body by a switch and circuits of a post-stage are reset and an on-screen circuit 102 generates a message indicating the faulty IC card, and the message is outputted, being superimposed on the video signal. |
