PURPOSE:To stabilize the coupling efficiency of light by making light which is emitted by a light emission chip incident on a short optical fiber which is held in a ferrule through a lens which has a spherical surface and coupling the ferrule with the ferrule of an optical connector coaxially. CONSTITUTION:The short optical fiber 15 is held on the center axis and the lens 13 having the spherical surface is fixed to one and surface of the ferrule 14 whose end surfaces are both ground, and the other end surface part is inserted into a cylindrical split sleeve 16 almost to the half, thereby making the light from the semiconductor light emitting chip 11 incident on the optical fiber 15 through the lens 13. Therefore, the light from the semiconductor light emitting chip 11 is made incident on the optical fiber 15 through the lens 13. Therefore, the light from the semiconductor chip 11 is incident on a long optical fiber 15 and the ferrule 19 of an optical connector having the same external diameter with the ferrule 14 is inserted into the cylindrical split sleeve 16 from the opposite side to arrange the two ferrules almost coaxilally with good reproducibility. Consequently, the light is coupled efficiently. |
