<p>A conventional small sewage treatment plant having a multiple chamber pit set up for anaerobic degradation of organic dirt particles is converted for aerobic degredation of the organic dirt particles. For this purpose, an aerator (15) is arranged in each of the intermediate chambers (12, 13) situated between the inlet and outlet chambers (11, 14). If required, in addition to the aerator (15) an agitator (19) or a fixed bed (18) can be assigned to the intermediate chambers (12, 13). The inlet chamber present in the multiple chamber pits (1) which occupies half of the total volume is subdivided by a partition (9) into two roughly equally sized chambers (11, 12) and the upper edge of the partition (9) runs at the height of the water surface. <IMAGE></p> |
