PURPOSE:To eliminate a need of complicated and expensive parts in a device main body me well as an expendable unit, to accurately detect the residual quantity of expendable supplies, and to report the replacement period of them. CONSTITUTION:The image forming device provided with a read means 1 which reads characters and graphic information of a document or the like, an encoding means which compresses and converts picture element information read by the read means 1 to code information, a decoding means which expands and converts code information to picture element information again, and a picture recording output means 4 which forms an image based on picture element information converted by the decoding means is provided with a calculating means which calculates the number of image forming picture elements at the time of conversion processing between picture information and code information in the encoding or decoding means, a storage means where the value calculated by the calculating means is integrated and stored, and a discriminating means which discriminates whether the integrated value reaches a set value or not to output a discrimination signal. By this constitution, expendable supplies or the like closely related to the number of recording pictures are managed by the discrimination signal without especially adding an expensive means. |
