PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a converter within an appropriate operating range by properly controlling a phase-control angle, even when a capacitor is inserted between a transformer and the converter. SOLUTION: In a control device for converting AC into DC with a capacitor inserted between a transformer and a converter, upper and lower limit set points 51, 52 are set in a control means 53, which computes and outputs a phase-control angle. However, since these are the values based on the output voltage phase of the converter, a computing part 61 for computing the corrected values of the upper and lower limits is provided to obtain the values so as to set an AC voltage phase as the reference and to correct the upper and lower limit set points.
