The chain sprocket is particularly for use on board ship, and comprises a pair of flat discs with driving dogs between them engaging in the chain links. One disc (1) is mounted on the shaft and the other (7) is annular, while the dogs form part of a number of inserts (3,4,5) fitted together, detachable from the discs and interchangeable. The inserts can be identical castings, three in number, each extending through 120 deg.
