PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a person identification system which does not invade privacy for crime prevention and is simple. SOLUTION: This person identification system 10 is provided with a host computer 2, a scanner 4, which is used in the use site of a credit card, a card reader 6, and a combination means 8. The scanner 4 reads fingerprints of a person, who tries to use the credit card and the card reader 6 reads fingerprint patterns of the bearer registered on the card. The fingerprint patterns of at least two fingers are read out and classified according to reference patterns which are classified by >=2 kinds. Those pieces of information are sent to the host computer 2 by the communication means 8. The host computer 2 judges whether or not the fingerprint patterns of the user who tries to use the credit card match the patterns that are already registered on the card. |
