Electrical model railway with central signalling station

The model railway has a current source connected to a track or overhead cable, a fixed central station for generating control signals which can be coupled to the track or cable, model trains movable on the track which can tap current from the track or cable and which are driven by rotary electrical motors and control signal receivers on the trains for coupling out the control signals and for delivering adjustable electric drive power to each motor to control its speed. A.C. motors without slip rings or commutators are used with stators with several windings for generating a rotary magnetic field. The control signal receiver contains a pulse generator unit which applies pulses to the stator windings with phase controlled by the central station control signals to vary the revolution rate of the rotary field.
