OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record intrinsic information with regard to a format in advance by jointly using a data recording area to form a track in a double spiral structure consisting of grooves and lands and a reproducing exclusive area forming a track in a single spiral structure consisting of a bit string. SOLUTION: A continuous track format is formed by one track out of two tracks in a data recording area and a track in a reproducing exclusive area. This format is realized by changing a pitch of feeding an exposing spot in a boundary part between a place of forming a latent image of the track in the data recording area and a place of forming a latent image of the track in the reproducing exclusive area at the time of cutting. Even when a reproducing spot is accidentally landed on a transition area at the time of track-jumping, the spot is shifted to the groove in the data recording area because of a groove existing in the transition area and hence the risk of a runaway of the reproducing spot is diminished.
