<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make individual cut fibers as long as one another and to minimizing the cutting angle by fixing the fibers of an optical fiber ribbon cable vertically when the fibers are cut. SOLUTION: A jig 10 which holds the fiber ribbon cable 1 having its jacket peeled is placed in a holder 21 fitted to a cutting machine 20 and pressed against one side 26 of the holder by a spring hook element 28 to place the jig 10 at a specific position in the machine 20. At this position of the jig, the fibers 2 of the ribbon cable enter the V groove 22 of a 1st support 22 and engage the elastic surface of a 2nd support 23. An upper component of the said support presses the fibers 2 in the V groove 24 and then the fibers are fixed longitudinally and laterally. A knife which operates at right angles to the fibers is used to cut breaking lines in the fiber and a weight is dropped on the fibers to cut the fiber.</p> |
