PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide optical communication equipment in combination with bar code reader having high product reliability, to provide optical communication through a simple method without using any communication cable and to provide the optical communication especially while utilizing an optical system (LED, PD and lens part), which is used for the bar code reader, as it is. SOLUTION: The communication to an other electronic equipment which is performed conventionally by using a cable is realized in this bar code reader by utilizing the optical system (LED, PD and lens part) equipped on the bar code reader as it is. In the case of outputting from the bar code reader, serial data are passed from the output port of a microcomputer through an optical communication ON/OFF part 20 and an LED 13 is controlled. The LED 13 is turned on/off and light is made incident to a PD 39 on the side of light reception. In the case of inputting to the bar code reader, a signal is outputted from an LED 41 on the side of transmission, light is made incident through a lens part 11 to a PD 15, the waveform is shaped by an AC amplifier/filter part 16 and converted to a digital signal by a binarizing circuit 17. Afterwards, the signal is inputted to the input port of the microcomputer in a logic block 18 and communication is completed. |
