<p>The prodn of hard paraffins (I) from highly impure polyolefin waste (II) (contg up to 15 wt% extraneous material) comprises (a) cracking (II) for 10-30 min at 360-400 degrees C in the absence of oxygen, (b) further thermal cleavage at 400-450 degrees C with simultaneous distn of cleavage prods at 1-100 mbar and concn of non-volatiles in the residue, and (c) conventional selective oil sepn of the distillate, opt after removing components with b.pts. up to about 160 degrees C at 10 mbar.</p> |
