PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modulation transfer function-measuring system and a method for evaluating the image quality of color liquid crystal display elements by the system. SOLUTION: This system for measuring modulation transfer function used in evaluating the image quality of LCDs includes an objective lens 110 for enlarging white dots on the color LCDs to be tested, a CCD camera 130 for imaging a luminance distribution of the white dots enlarged through the objective lens 110, an analog/digital converter 140 for converting information on the luminance distribution of the white dots imaged by the CCD camera 130 to digital information, and a controller for correcting a magnification of the objective lens to the luminance distribution information of the white dots converted to digital information, directly Fourier transforming a line spread function corresponding to the luminance distribution and calculating the modulation transfer function.
