PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seismic isolator in which a longer period for vertical vibration component can be attained by restraining at the same time a structural deformation of a load transmission route, by inputting to an elastic body a vertical relative displacement between a quake-free object and a base after converting to a rotational angular displacement. SOLUTION: In the seismic isolator which is arranged between an upper foundation 3 as a base into which the vibration is inputted and a structure 4 as a quake-free object installed upon the upper foundation in order to isolator the vertical vibration occurring between the upper foundation 3 and the structure 4, the seismic isolator is so configured that a ball screw 8 as a conversion mechanism is set between the upper foundation 3 and the structure 4 to convert the vertical relative displacement therebetween into the rotational angular displacement and a Belleville spring 11 for supporting the structure 4 as an elastic spring body is connected to a rotational angle output part 9 of the ball screw 8 through a cable 10 which is moved as a transmission member according to the rotational angular displacement.
