PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coordinate input device which gives a feeling of modulated operation and also gives the timing of a substantial input start as an operation feeling. SOLUTION: A coordinate detection part 12 has an operation part 16, and a slide contact 20 and a slide resistance part 22 as a coordinate detecting means. When the operation part 16 is pressed against the repulsive forces of a coil spring 44 and a pressure-sensitive conductive rubber part 50 having the different repulsive forces, the slide contact 20 outputs a detection signal S1 corresponding to the manipulated variable of the input operation. At this time, the detection signal S1 is processed as an ineffective input to a host through a detection signal holding part 54 within the starting range of the operation and as a signal indicating coordinate values in the following operation range.
