PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten inspection time, also to contrive the effective use of space in a works and to perform exact inspection by enabling in-line detection of the internal defect of a wire. SOLUTION: A straightening machine 20 for straightening the wire 12 pulled out of a supply reel 16 is arranged on the downstream side of the reel 16 which is loaded with a wire coil 14. Two die units 32, 32 each provided with a die are arranged separately in series in the feeding direction of the wire on the downstream side of the straightening machine 20. A through type eddy current flaw detector 40 for detecting the surface defect of the wire 12 is arranged on the downstream side of the die unit 32 on the downstream side. An ultrasonic flaw detector 46 for detecting the internal defect of the wire 12 is arranged on the downstream side of the eddy current flaw detector 40. A guide 68 for guiding and holding the wire 12 the presence or absence of the internal defect of which is inspected with the ultrasonic flaw detector 46 is arranged on the downstream side of the ultrasonic flaw detector 46.
