METHOD FOR EVALUATING ELECTRICAL INSULATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for exactly evaluating characteristics of an electrical insulator by integrating the characteristics into an evaluation parameter by taking a correlation between characteristic parameters into account. SOLUTION: According to the method for evaluating characteristics of the electrical insulator, n (n>=2) characteristic parameters including information related to the evaluation are measured for each of a plurality of standard samples. Measured data of each of the obtained characteristic parameters are turned to a normal distribution, and a standard deviation si, a best value or mean value x0i, and a correlation coefficient rij between the characteristic parameters (i and j are the characteristic parameters) are calculated. Moreover, n characteristic parameters xi are measured for a specific evaluation object. The evaluation parameter D2 is calculated according to the following expression (1), whereby the insulator is evaluated.
