PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of the abnormal images arising from the electric discharge products sticking to the surface of an image carrying member of an image forming device which develops the electrostatic latent image formed on the image carrying member as a toner image by a developing device, transfers the toner image to a transfer material and removes the residual transfer toners sticking to the surface of the image carrying member without being transferred by a cleaning device. SOLUTION: The surface of the image carrying member 1 is provided with a product removing member 19 which abuts on the surface of the image carrying member and this product removing member 19 is made to abut on the surface of the image carrying member 1 to dam up the electric discharge products and to absorb portions thereof to the product removing member 19. The product removing member is then parted from the surface of the image carrying member and the electric discharge products dammed up thus far are removed by the cleaning blade 17.
