PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminating unit capable of sufficiently assuring a lighting time by reducing size and weight without impairing a design image and further being used for any portable telephone. SOLUTION: The illuminating unit 3 comprises a tuning circuit 5 having a coil 6 and a diode 7 tuned with at least a transmitted radio wave of the portable telephone 1, and an LED(light emitting diode) 9 becoming a light emitting unit lighting by an output of the circuit 5. The unit 3 is projected from a distal end of an antenna rod 2 of the telephone 1. The LED 9 of the unit 3 is lit by the transmitted radio wave of the telephone 1 oscillated by a transmitting operation by a person owing the telephone 1, and lit during a period in which the radio wave is transmitted. Further, the LED 9 is lit even by a receiving radio wave.
