PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dry high voltage resistor device capable of eliminating both chain disconnection incident to a structural defect and arc discharge following to chain disconnection, and to provide a chain disconnection preventing method. SOLUTION: The characteristic dry high voltage resistor device is adopted, in which neutral points N of every high voltage resistor circuitβeach having a parallel connection of a plurality of three-phase resistor circuitsαwhere three-phases of a resistor array phase 10 for connecting a high voltage resistor element 1 in series are connected in Y through a neutral point coupling member 28 are not concatenated but formed independently, and the high voltage resistor element 1 fits high breakdown voltage insulation sleeves 19 and 19 removably, at positions close to the opposite ends, to the arranging plates 12a and 12a of an outer tube 2 incorporating a coil-like resistor heating wire 3 stretching between the inner ends of electrodes 4 and 4 inserted from the opposite ends and an insulator 5 filling between the inner end faces while being baked.
