PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of a network storage. SOLUTION: A data transfer rate in a network is considerably different from an access rate in a disk type storage part. To temporary store data read from the disk type storage part or data to be written to the disk type storage part, a buffer memory having a sufficient capacity is prepared, and the intermittent access to the disk type storage part is concentrically performed by use of the buffer memory, whereby the time of not accessing the disk can be ensured long. The disk type storage part is stopped during this, whereby the reduction in power consumption in reading and writing operation of data can be realized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
