PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system which reduces a memory used for a program execution area and also raise the execution speed of a control program. SOLUTION: This optical transmission system is constituted so as to load an A control program of a communication section 1 currently mounted from a program storage section 5 to a program execution region 6 by reference to identification information stored in an identification information storage section 4, and to execute the A control program. Thereby, the implementation of transmission and reception of a light signal in communication section 1 currently mounted is enabled without loading an unnecessary control program (control program of communications sections 2 and 3 which are not mounted now) into a program execution region 6.
