<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a general-purpose optical element which can realize optical low loss connection even in the case of optically connecting optical fibers, etc., whose diameters are greatly different mutually and can respond to rays of light of all wavelengths and an optical connecting structure using the same. <P>SOLUTION: This element is an optical element 10 which includes an optical waveguide 12 in which a refractive index n(r) in the position of a distance (r) decreases continuously as the distance (r) becomes long from a center axis and the element 10 is characterized in that a refractive index profile such as that the increasing rateΔn(r)/Δr of the refractive index n(r) to the distance (r) increases as the distance (r) becomes shorter exists in the circumference of the center axis of the optical waveguide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
