PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture correction processing method being superior in the reproductivity of multilevel hierarchy while having a smoothing function by reducing processing which gives adverse influence on the hierarchical reproductivity of a multilevel hierarchy picture. SOLUTION: The picture element under consideration 101 is judged whether or not a picture element is corrected (S1). Then, when the picture element 101 is the one to be corrected (YES in S1), it is judged whether an intermediate density picture element exists or not in an intermediate density detecting area 102 in the periphery of the picture element 101 (S2). That is, it is judged whether or not the intermediate density picture element exists, which is judged that the density data do not exist in the area 102 (Oh) and the picture data do not exist at the time of binarization (S2). When the low level intermediate density picture element exists (YES in S2), processing for outputting data before smoothing correction, that is, the density data of an input picture is executed prior to the picture data after the correction (S3). |
