<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device capable of dealing with different types of optical recording media. <P>SOLUTION: A first beam splitter BS1 is arranged between a beam shaping element BSL and a collimator lens CL which is an emission angle conversion element, the emission light alone of a first semiconductor laser LD1 which is a blue-violet semiconductor laser is made incident on the beam shaping element BSL to perform beam shaping, and then it is passed through the collimator lens CL to change an emission angle. On the other hand, the light of a second semiconductor laser LD2 which is a red semiconductor laser is reflected by a first beam splitter BS1, and made incident on the collimator lens CL without being passed through the beam shaping element BSL to change an emission angle. That is, as the number of collimator lenses CL is one, and the light alone of the first semiconductor laser LD1 is subjected to beam shaping, high light using efficiency is obtained, and a compact optical pickup device is obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
