PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a recording medium for water base ink excellent in print performance and balance of physical properties, e.g. ink adsorption and waterproofness, by irradiating a water base ink receiving layer containing resin having a heterobond with UV-rays under specified conditions and hardening the ink receiving layer thereby reducing tack on the surface of a sheet. SOLUTION: An ink receiving layer containing resin having a bond of carbon and an atom other than carbon, more specifically a heterobond, in the molecular frame is laminated on one side of a support. The ink receiving layer is then irradiated with ionization radiation for 10 sec or less to prepare a recording medium for water base ink. The resin having carbon-oxygen bond in the molecular frame where hetero atom is oxygen includes polydioxolane, polyethylene oxide, polypropylene oxide. Ionization radiation includes UV-rays, α-rays, β-rays, γ-rays, X rays, electron beam, and the like, wherein UV-rays are employed effectively and irradiation time is preferably set within 10 sec. |
