METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING THE SLEEP MODE FOR POWER SAVING IN A WIRELESS MESH NETWORK

A method and a system for controlling a sleep mode for saving power in a wireless mesh network are provided to prolong the life span of an overall system and enhance energy efficiency in a wireless mesh network by changing software without additional hardware. A TXOP(Transmission Opportunity) determining unit(620) listens to an ADDT(Add Traffic stream) during communication between nodes to determine TXOPis(individual TXOPs). A TXOPi detecting unit(630) detects the TXOPis included in an predetermined SI(Service Interval) among the determined TXOPis. A vTXOP(virtual TXOP) setting unit(640) sets a virtual TXOP in which a start point of the SI is used as a start point and an end point of a final TXOP of the detected TXOPs is used as an end point. A sleep mode entering determining unit(650) compares the vTXOP with a value based on the SI and determines entering a sleep mode.
