Reaction solutions are treated with alkali-earth metal hydroxide to precipitate cobalt and tungsten. Precipitate is successively treated with strong inorganic acid to form soluble cobalt salt. The latter is separated from tungstic acid precipitate. In another embodiment of invention, solution is treated with alkali metal hydroxide to precipitate and isolate cobaltous hydroxide. Alkali solution is then treated with alkali-earth metal compound to form alkali- earth metal tungstate, which is treated with strong inorganic acid to produce tungstic acid.
