<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drunk driving preventive device capable of certainly detecting alcohol about a driver of a vehicle, and preventing driving under the influence of alcohol or drunk driving. <P>SOLUTION: A start switch 5 starting an engine of the vehicle is provided with an infrared light source 13 irradiating an infrared ray of wavelength which is absorbed in reduced hemoglobin of blood, and an image pick-up element 12 receiving the infrared ray and picking up an image, thereby carrying out individual authentication by a blood vessel pattern. The start switch 5 is provided with an alcohol sensor 14 to detect alcohol ingredient. The infrared ray is irradiated to fingers 101 of the driver, so that perspiration is promoted, and the alcohol ingredient included in vaporized sweat can be accurately detected. The individual authentication and alcohol detection are simultaneously carried out to the fingers 101 of the driver operating the start switch 5, and the engine of the vehicle is started only when the individual authentication is succeeded and alcohol is not detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
