PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery of a high capacity, having a long cycle lifetime, and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: A lithium secondary battery comprises at least a negative electrode 301, a positive electrode 303 and an electrolyte 307, in which an oxidation/ reduction reaction of a lithium ion is used for charging/discharging. An electrode having active material which has at least an amorphous phase and 0.48 degree or more of a half-width of the peak at which a highest diffraction intensity appears at an X-ray diffraction angle 2θ in an X-ray diffraction chart representing the diffraction ray intensity at 2θ and which is composed mainly of a material including one or more elements selected from a group of cobalt, nickel, manganese and iron, is used as the negative electrode 301 and/or the positive electrode 303. |
