The present invention relates to a method for preparing boron nitride powder and hexagonal boron nitride powder prepared by means of same, the method comprising the steps of: (a) preparing a reaction intermediate by performing a warming reaction of a boric acid and a reactant comprising urea at 10°C-350°C; and (b) preparing hexagonal boron nitride powder by heat treating the prepared reaction intermediate at 10°C-2000°C.
