A process for producing graft-modified fibers which comprises irradiating, with electron beams, a fibrous material constituted of a polymeric material and having an average fiber diameter of 6 µm or less, subsequently immersing the fibrous material in a radical-polymerizable-compound solution to impart the radical-polymerizable compound thereto, and thereafter polymerizing the compound while keeping films in close contact with both surfaces of the fibrous material. It is preferable that the solvent should contain an emulsifier. Due to this process, the graft-modified fibers obtained by the electron beam irradiation method can have a further improved degree of grafting. |
