PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve prediction accuracy by suppressing error due to dispersion of friction in predicting whether a crank is stopped or not in a valve overlap state.SOLUTION: An engine prediction device (engine control device 100) for predicting occurrence of overlap stop in which a crank is stopped in a valve overlap state when both of an intake valve 9 and an exhaust valve 10 are opened, includes an inertia derivation portion 114 for deriving an inertia value on the basis of an engine rotating speed after stop of fuel injection, a prediction portion 116 for predicting occurrence of the overlap stop when the inertia value or an estimate value of the crank angle in stopping the engine, estimated from the inertia value is included in a predetermined threshold value range, and a correction portion 118 for correcting the threshold value range on the basis of variation of the inertia value with lapse of time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
