PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image processing apparatus and a medical image processing method of the medical image processing apparatus that easily identify a hump to be observed on an artery to make it possible to easily observe the hump.SOLUTION: A medical image processing apparatus according to an embodiment comprises: a volume data storage unit for storing a plurality of pieces of volume data corresponding to a plurality of time phases corresponding to one heart beat, where each volume data is associated with each time phase; a position matching unit for performing position matching between the plurality of pieces of volume data; a risk region identification unit that extracts an aneurysm from each of the plurality of pieces of volume data and identifies a rupture risk region formed on the aneurysm's surface; a movement amount calculation unit that associates the plurality of pieces of volume data on which the position matching has been performed with the plurality of time phases to calculate the rupture risk region's movement amounts in the plurality of time phases; and a risk region display control unit for controlling display of the rupture risk region on the basis of the magnitude of the calculated movement amounts of the rupture risk region.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
