Catalyst (I) comprising a support body, first catalytically active coating and a second coating, is new, where the first coating comprises one or more transition metal exchanged zeolites and/or one or more transition metals exchanged zeolite-like compound, which is directly applied to the support body and the second coating maximum completely covers the first coating exhaust side such that the contact of exhaust gas containing 3C-hydrocarbon with the first coating is hindered and the passage of nitrogen oxide and ammonia to the first coating is blocked. An independent claim is included for reducing nitrogen monoxide and nitrogen dioxide in hydrocarbon-containing diesel engine exhaust gases, comprising adding ammonia or ammonia decomposable precursor compound as a reducing agent to be cleaned nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbon-containing exhaust gas and passing the obtained mixture of the exhaust gas and the reducing agent over (I). |
