1288943 Strip line couplers WESTERN ELECTRIC CO Inc 10 Dec 1969 [17 March 1969] 60268/69 Heading H1W A microwave quadrature coupler is formed as a thin film on an insulating substrate 20 and comprises circuit portions forming transmission line sections 6-12, each of length less than #/4, where # is the mid-band frequency, and circuit portions 13-18 forming lumped capacitors connected between the ends of the transmission lines and ground. Branch line coupling between the series connected transmission lines 6, 7 interconnecting ports 1 and 4, and 8, 9 interconnecting ports 2 and 3 is provided by the lines 10-12. In an example lines 6-9 are 18% #/4, the phase being corrected and impedance transformed for quadrature coupler action by the lumped capacitors. A proximity quadrature coupler is provided in a further embodiment. The coupler may be formed by a photolithographic process. |
