In a bleeding arrangement for an hydraulically operated disc brake system in which a bleed outlet is provided in an operating cylinder and in which, when the cylinder is mounted for operation, the said outlet lies below at least part of the working space within the cylinder, a passage is provided for conveying fluid to the outlet from the cylinder, said passage communicating only between the bleed outlet and the part of the working space thereabove. An insert in the form of a plate 10 with a flange 12 and cut-away part 18 is fitted within the cylinder to form therewith an annular chamber 24 from which fluid is drawn when the system is bled. Alternatively the insert has the form of a gapped ring or a solid disc (92) with an axially parallel passage (94) and a radial passage (98) and is moulded from synthetic resin or cast in metal or alloy.</p> |
