PURPOSE:To provide a locking apparatus for vehicles which prevents the jackknifing of a trailer and a dolly for permitting a smooth backing by coupling a disc to the trailer so as to restrict the mutual turning, and providing the dolly with the braking means of the disc. CONSTITUTION:Turning on contact a of a three position power switch 17 of a controlling means for the driving mechanism of a brake head 9 causes the air pressure in an air tank 14 to change to the oil pressure boosted by a booster 12, and the oil pressure causes pistons 10 to move forward to allow linings 11 to strongly hold a disc 5. Consequently, a trailer and a dolly are locked in the turning direction. On the other hand, with a contact c turned on, the trailer and a dolly are locked only when the air pressure is supplied for a service line 18, that is, when the brake is operated. A contact b is neutral. Thus, this permits the trailer and the dolly to be locked according to need, preventing the jackknifing and providing a smooth backing. |
