PURPOSE:To enable invariably correct signal regeneration even if the polarity of a signal is indeterminate between the input and output of an equalizer, by performing prescribed conversion processing with regard to the output signal of the equalizer. CONSTITUTION:An input signal is supplied to an orthogonal multilevel amplitude demodulator 1 to obtain demodulated signals Dp and Dq, which are passed through an automatic equalizer 2 to obtain signals Xp and Xq; and they are supplied to a converting circuit 3 to invert the polarity of predetermined one of the signals Xp and Xq, and its converted signals Yp and Yq are decoded by a differential decoder 4 to obtain channel signals Sp and Sq. For signal conversion, even if the signal inverted in polarity by the equalizer is corrected individually or even if channels (p) and (q) are changed at the input terminal or output terminal of the decoder 4, a correct regenerated signal is obtained. |
