In a water-borne vessel which can be used even in a high seaway and which has a high travelling speed when travelling to its place of service and whose skimming performance is to be improved in comparison with known apparatuses, use is made, on a twin-hulled ship having seaway stabilisers (4) between the ship's hulls (1, 1'), which are to receive the substances to be eliminated, in particular oils, of a fluid-permeable filtering screen (5), motor-driven by means of an endless chain or an endless belt (11), which screen projects obliquely, relative to the horizontal, into the water, and a counter- rotating cleaning roller (6) engaging into the filtering screen elements (5') at the upper end of the said filtering screen, which projects out of the water, an endless conveyor belt (12), rotating horizontally transversely to the running direction of the filtering screen (5), to receive the solids dropping from the filtering screen (5) and/or the cleaning roller (6) and transport them away to a collecting container (13), an oil separation container (9) whose overflow edge (17) is vertically adjustable by means of control floats (8) mounted at the front and which is equipped with two pumping systems, which are used on the one hand for the water which, because of its greater density, collects in the lower space of the oil separation container, and on the other hand as an extraction apparatus for the oil floating thereon or the liquid to be eliminated. <IMAGE> |
