PURPOSE:To obtain excellent radiation characteristics over a broad band, by forming a TE11 mode generating section with a part generated at a high frequency band only and a part generated at both low and high frequency bands. CONSTITUTION:The connection is performed in the order of a conical horn 1, a straight circular waveguide 2a, a taper waveguide 5a, a straight circular waveguide 2b, a taper waveguide 5b, and a feeding waveguide 3b. This double mode horn antenna is used for two frequency bands; the high frequency band excited from the waveguide 3b and the low frequency band excited from the feeding waveguide 3a fitted to a feeding inlet 6 placed on the way of the waveguide 5a. The TE11 mode is generated only at the high frequency band from both ends of the waveguide 2a and the TE11 is generated at both frequency bands from both ends of the waveguide 2a. Since the optimum amount of generation of the higher mode is obtained at both frequency bands in this way, the excellent characteristics are obtained over a very broad band. |
