In a sensor element for calorimetric flow monitors, which comprises a device for heating the element and a device for sensing the temperature of the element, the device for heating the element and the device for sensing the temperature of the element are spatially separated from the flow that is to be monitored in such a way that the heat transfer from the device for heating the element and from the device for sensing the temperature of the element to the flowing medium takes place via a separate heat-conducting element. A part of the heat-conducting element that is subjected to the flowing medium is provided with a separate flow sensing element and consists of material different from the heat-conducting element.
