PURPOSE:To attain smooth loading of a medium and to attain a small installing space by designing the titled device in a way that a holding member is moved in a direction ensuring the loading path of an information recording medium. CONSTITUTION:After a holder 107 holding a disk cartridge 102 is moved horizontally along an L-shaped guide hole 122 provided to a side plate 121, the holder starts descending, then a hold member 105 starts descending. When the member comes to the position shown in the figure, a clamp retainer 104 provided to the hold member 105 presses the disk in the disk cartridge 102 against a turntable 109 and clamps said disk. In loading the magneto-optical disk in this way, the holding member 105 is placed away from a direction crossing the loading direction of the medium to attain smooth loading of the medium.
