PURPOSE:To enable industrially advantageous alkoxylation of the title compound in the shortened reaction time, easily in low costs, by selecting the solvent in case of a specific aprotic solvent in the presence of a potassium base, especially potassium carbonate. CONSTITUTION:In the presence of at least one base selected from potassium bases of K-R<4> (R<4> is 1 to 4 C alkoxy, -NH2, H), preferably a potassium alkoxide, and potassium carbonate, the compound of formula I is alkoxylated with an alkoxylating agent of the formula: R<1>-X (X is Cl, Br, I) such as methyl chloride in the aprotic solvent which has O or N atoms in its molecule and boils over 65 deg.C (preferably tetrahydrofuran and N-N-dimethylformamide or dimethyl sulfoxide are employed, when potassium carbonate is used as a base) to give a compound of formula II (R<1> is 1 to 18C hydrocarbon group). |
